I am a certified International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) teacher in Biology with sixteen years of experience as an educator. My true passion is to work with youths, assisting in their development; academic, social, language, motor skills, as well as helping orient them with university applications and career pathways. This launched my appointment as a High school Counselor in Academic School of Excellence Yaounde, where I currently teach.
I was educated in Cameroon, hold a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a secondary school teaching diploma. Currently, I am enrolled in the University of the People, where I am studying for a Master’s in Advanced teaching online, on a full scholarship, that I received from the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Also, I am a member of the International Association for college admission counseling (IACAC) which provides professional development on twenty first century skills as a counselor. I am knowledgeable, caring and principled with both a multicultural and multilingual background.
I’m a self-starter, independent learner and quick to pick on innovative approaches to teaching and learning, employing differentiated teaching strategies suitable for specific needs of individual learners.
Additionally, I am an International Baccalaureate (IB) examiner in Biology who also teaches Cambridge Science and Home Economics. Having taught Biology and Chemistry in Cameroon public school system, has afforded me the opportunity to interact with students from both rural and urban environment.
Finally, I am currently preparing grade 12 students to take the IBDP Biology exam, as well as guiding them through university application processes.
I am an IT specialist and a multi-educational educator in both the sciences and social sciences. I have six years of teaching experience in the Cameroon curriculum “Cameroon GCE,” curriculum, a year in Emergent Bilingual Student “EBS,” and two years as an international teacher (CIA and IBDP).
I strongly advocate for proactive pedagogical strategies. With an educational experience in education for sustainable development “ESD,” a changing world’s academic demands, demand new teaching and pedagogical teaching and learning skills.
Additionally, I possess 21st-Century educational practices, experience, and skills to help schools reorient their educational techniques to prepare students to inherit this fast-changing world and live sustainably within new international contexts.
Also, I have a vast amount of theoretical knowledge of teaching techniques, with accompanying resources to assist in this transition endeavor. I have a Bachelor’s degree in economics and management and am a postgraduate student in advanced education preparing for graduation. Currently, I am assisting St. Jude’s Academy to prepare their 12-grade students for the upcoming Waterloo Math contest.

Kombo holds a University Degree from “Ecole Superieure de Commerce d’Abidjan - ESCA - 1981” with 30 years of professional experience with Unilever PLC, a global corporate with a strong footprint in Africa.
He is currently a individual Management Consultant sharing his vast experience with local Businesses. He also serves a Senior Advisor to a Private Equity Funds Manager
During his rich professional career, Professor Kombo held following key positions: Management Accountant, Financial Director, Regional Supply chain Manager and Business Development Director for Central Africa (based in Unilever South Africa). Professor Kombo has held the senior position as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in a major Manufacturing Company.
All along his career, Professor Kombo developed and implemented business strategies, policies, and procedures to improve company performance delivering profitable growth. He developed training programs to enhance his team’s performance and productivity.
- As Finance Director of local subsidiary (2000 – 2003), he provided strategic and financial leadership to the management team to ensure that company financial obligations are met with a strong cash flow position. He developed necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and controls of the company’s business.
- From his Supply chain Manager (2003-2006) position, he designed and drove the implementation of the Business Units operations planning systems (S&OP)
- As local business team leader (Country Director -2006-2009 & Chief Operating Officer 2014 - 2016) Kombo was instrumental to Company business development strategies in eastern and Central Africa from 2006 till 2016.
- He is now sharing his expertise by teaching at a local university in Cote d'Ivoire
I am a seasoned information technology (IT) professional and science educator with teaching experience in several educational levels and settings, seeking opportunities to teach biology, as well as train teachers in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual educational environment. I am a compassionate, creative, global, educator, with multi-lingual capability and multi-cultural sensitivity. Additionally, I possess the ability to instruct structured pedagogical change through professional development strategies that encourage student-centered teaching methods, and model how to develop inquiry-based, differentiated scientific teaching and learning, which employs action research to inform teacher practice and next instructional steps. I am certified by SC for secondary science education as a critical needs, highly qualified teacher and have also taught Junior College biology courses. I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology and have received special training in laboratory science. I have published a paper on successful methodologies for educating students in three languages. While working on a national education reform project in the UAE, I received a notable mention from the PISCARI Monitoring evaluation team for innovation and teaching. I have worked in Egypt, the US, the UAE, Cameroon and Kazakhstan in the field of education. I have achieved Cambridge certification for two international schools in Yaoundé, Cameroon as a Coordinator and Head of School. Also, I’m certified as an IB biology instructor and school administrator, recently received a certificate of appreciation for great work at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Math in Almaty, Kazakhstan, were I currently teach; employing many online teaching tools and applications for instructional delivery. Currently, preparing grade 11 students to take the biology SAT II exam in the coming year.
