Dr. Getachew MD, R. Ph, is a Cleveland Clinic trained physician, practicing for over 15 years in the greater Columbus area.  He is Ranked on the Best Doctors US News + World Report.

Dr. Getachew is an elite trained neurology, sleep, and addiction specialist. He received his undergraduate degree from the prestigious Purdue University School of Pharmacy and worked as a Pharmacist for about six years. Being a Pharmacist in addition to a Medical Doctor gives him a unique understanding that few physicians possess when it comes to knowing the best medication to use in treating patients.

Joseph Peter Mandala holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas, graduating as a Distinguished Scholar. He also holds a Master of Public Administration and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (Juris Doctorate) degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law where he was a Member and later Associate Editor of the North Dakota Law Review (the most prestigious law journal for the entire North Dakota law fraternity). Mandala is an experienced auditor, lawyer and clinical ethicist, and teacher. He has worked as an Audit Senior and Senior Business Consultant for KPMG. He had a stint as an Assistant District Attorney for Grayson County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted crimes before joining criminal defense law firm of Pamela A. McGraw, P.C. Mandala honed in his civil litigation experience at David M. Stagner, P.C. and Robert Notzon, P.C. where he focused on federal law cases, especially employment discrimination cases. Prior to joining the legal profession, Mandala taught various branches of secondary and college level mathematics and social and development studies. At college level, he has taught College Algebra, Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Business Law, Organizational Behavior, Government, Macroeconomics, and Comparative Politics courses at Grayson College, Corporate Governance College, and University of North Dakota. His research and publication interests are multidisciplinary, primarily focused on judicial independence and ethical judicial decisionmaking within international law and U.S. federal judicial system. Currently, his research focuses on the intersection of law, medicine, and clinical ethics. His recent work has been on the ethical application of medical neuroscientific evidence to increase accuracy of judicial decisionmaking in courts. On bioethics and law, Mandala has tackled the drive for head transplantation, body part preservation, medical futility determinations, and the legal and ethical quandary these issues present in national and international law. In October 2015, Mandala received a Dr. David C. Eiland Jr. Award in Healthcare Ethics and Medical Humanities at the University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, Texas) in recognition of his excellence in advancing healthcare. He has presented at different national and international conferences. His works have received favorable treatment nationally and internationally, including “The Judiciary and Conflict Resolution in Southern Africa” which is being used as a teaching course material for diplomats at the American University in Washington, D.C. The same work has received a favorable review as a shift in African peace paradigm (in Abdul Karim Bangura’s book, “Toyin Falola and African Epistemologies”). Another, “Constitutional Review: Guidelines” is being used as library reference material at the University of Tanzania library. Publications of his writings have also appeared in books, law reviews, journals, and newspapers. His work “Universal Civil Jurisdiction: Universalizing Civil Jus Cogens Violations through Adoption of the Alien Tort Statute and Retooling the International Criminal Court” has appeared in “The Hague Yearbook of International Law,” while “Silence of the Law is Not Its Absence” appeared in the “Nations Newspaper”. His other works have appeared in “War and Peace in Africa,” “The African Peace Paradigms,” and “The Lamp Magazine” among others. Mandala founded and leads several profit and nonprofit organizations. He also serves and chairs various boards, including being a Founding Chairman and Executive Director of Malawi Diaspora Investment Fund, L.C.A, headquartered in Washington, D.C., U.S.A.
